Tom Deezan Reflects on Growth and a Nomadic
Life in Latest Pop Single “Waterflow”
By: Nadia Sobehart
Musician and songwriter, Tom Deezan, welcomes listeners on a
journey of personal growth through his latest single, “Waterflow,” the second
single to “The Nomad’s Duology” project. Currently based in Los Angeles, the
22-year-old musician hails from Cordoba, Argentina, where he was raised, and
spent half of the past year living in Mexico in pursuit of personal growth. His
journey has led us to “Waterflow,” complete with life lessons he is eager to
share with listeners.
“Waterflow” is a powerful song about abundance, growth, and
rebirth. “It’s about the deidealization of love—the truth of post-relationship
pain and growing from pain as well,” tells Deezan. “The main concept of this
song is an awakening process in which I finally discover my power after
diminishing myself. It’s also about connecting with the abundance that
surrounds us.”
Using key references, like the Ace of Swords, Tom Deezan
brings deeper meaning to his single. “The Ace of Swords is a tarot card with an
important meaning,” he explains. “It describes a moment of breakthrough in life
and seeing things from a new point of view. It allows us to get rid of
deception and bad feelings in exchange for new beginnings. And that’s what this
single is about—growing from pain into new beginnings.”
Music has been a part of Tom Deezan’s life for as long as he
can remember. “I’ve been singing since I was a little kid and was always
passionate about writing songs as well. I wrote songs, poems, and stories,”
shares the musician.
Four years ago, Deezan journeyed down the path of
production, developing his skills as time went on. In 2021, he created his
first single alone in his bedroom and an entire music video with his friend. In 2022, Deezan recorded “Waterflow,” his
second single, with vibrant visuals to match.
“It’s the second part of what I call ‘The Nomad’s Duology,’”
shares Deezan. “The first part was ‘Love Me In Chains,’ my first single. Both
projects tell the story of this character in different physical plains and
perspectives. I chose the word ‘nomad’ because it matches my character and
phase in life. A nomad is a person who doesn’t stay long in a physical plain.
I’ve felt this way the past three years of my writing—a constant search for
change in every aspect of my life.”
To create “Waterflow,” Tom Deezan traveled to Mexico, where
he lived for six months. “After my first single, I traveled while I was going
through personal things and feelings. I decided to move to a different country
alone and started writing alone. It was then I traveled to Mexico City to work
with a producer. We built the beat first and then I freestyle on top of it with
the story I wanted to tell,” tells Deezan. “We focused on a solid pop core and
added bits of 80s sound and futuristic synths to create the sound we wanted.”
The concept of a nomadic life heavily influenced not only
Deezan’s two singles but also his way of life. “I have a kind of weird but
constant ambition for new feelings and experiences,” shares the artist. “My
only purpose now is to grow and get to know what life is like. I’m a
Sagittarius—I’m always looking for change and new experiences and feelings.”
While he’s focused on growing as a person and artist, Tom Deezan
is also keen on sharing his experiences through song. “I’m definitely trying to
make listeners aware of the power we have as humans and the power of the
universe itself being around us. I want to raise awareness of the abundance
that surrounds us,” adds Deezan.
