HIP HOP RECORDING ARTIST "VK da General" STOPS BY AND TALKS NEW SINGLE 'TOP OF THE WORLD' AND MORE!

Caribbean Hip Hop Artist VK da General Uses Wordplay and Punchlines to Reach the “Top of the World”

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST BELOW!

VK DA GENERAL (19:23)

Download the MP3

BAHAMAS - As a rising hip hop artist, VK da General has a lot to say, and it begins with his single, “Top of the World.” Standing out from other artists, VK is on a mission to push “positive music out with the positive energy that will make you think before you do something wrong.”

While VK is a household name in the Caribbean hip-hop scene, he is coming for the U.S. and the rest of the world. VK was surrounded by Caribbean sounds growing up, but VK loved hip hop. As a youth, VK saw himself in Notorious BIG. Additionally, VK was inspired by Tupac, Jay Z, Snoop Dog, and DMX. The music legends helped VK form the entertainer he is today.

When VK flows, his voice draws the listeners into a strong yet velvet odyssey, with lyrics that evoke a variety of topics, whether it be love, positivity, or something harder. His Bahamian accent almost disappears, and listeners can believe his voice could originate anywhere. “Every time I rap, I slip into a character. A different song has a different vibe and how you feel,” he explained.

The energy-packed “Top of the World” is a musical masterpiece inspired by its lyrical hoops and booming beats. The track focuses on success and fulfilling your dreams. VK pays homage to great men and women who came from humble beginnings to make history when no one expected them to succeed. Names like Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, and President Obama make the final verse one that leaves listeners nodding their heads, knowing VK speaks the truth.

As VK’s velvet voice booms, “Top of the World” drips with energy and positivity. The song’s intense pace and violin lines make it truly unique. When asked about the music, VK said, “It’s for all the underdogs who had a dream. Once you dream it, you can achieve it. There’s no limits.”

Adding to “Top of the World’s” perfection is the music video filmed in New York City. Showing off the skyscrapers, luxury cars, and the city’s bright lights, the “Top of the World” video represents VK’s journey into hip hop.

The Bahamian native reminds everyone that the Caribbean is a hotspot for exceptional hip-hop talents. “We are here. A lot of people have been sleeping on Caribbean artists, but they don’t realize the greatest talents come from the Caribbean,” he said.

Those talents were showcased in a Tempo Network Television documentary entitled “Hip Hop Origins.” Educating viewers on hip hop beginnings in the Caribbean, VK was the show’s host for season one’s eight episodes.

“This is just the beginning,” said VK. “You will soon see my name everywhere you go. On every radio station you listen to because the key to success is being positive about anything you do or doing, say that prayer, put God first in life, and everything else will follow.”

HIP HOP RECORDING ARTIST 'GILES' TALKS NEW SINGLE "ALIVE" AND MUCH MORE!

Diverse Artist Giles Gets Back in the Game with a Motivational, Soulful Hip Hop Single, “Alive”

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST BELOW!

GILES (39:29)

Download the MP3

ORLANDO, FL - Few doubt the talents of Alvin Giles. He is an accomplished producer, audio engineer, arranger, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter. After a ten-year hiatus, and under a new moniker; Giles, formally known as Vthov, makes his return as a musical artist.

Blending genres like a pro, Giles fuses hip hop, r&b, and soul with a myriad of intriguing elements from other genres. While his resume proves he can perfect any style, he returns to his hip hop roots for “Alive.”

“I’m reintroducing the world to me as an artist and feel that ‘Alive’ perfectly encapsulates what I have to offer,” said Giles.

“While seeing my contemporaries’ careers grow, it felt like my career as a rapper was dead. I needed a reboot,” he said. “‘Alive’ is first, a message to me. I’m letting myself know that I am standing on the shoulders of giants and have what it takes. I can overcome adversity.”

But after ten years, can Giles get back in the game as a contender?

While the world is coming out of a long pandemic, Giles’s return could not be timelier – and he delivers. “We’ve all suffered,” he said. “This pandemic is the first time in modernity that the human race can unite under the shared title of survivor.”

Back Rank Records will drop the single on March 11th, along with a lyric video on streaming platforms. Giles is the CEO and founder of Back Rank Records.

“Alive” begins with a soulful keyboard and is transformed into a big synth anthem. Giles takes listeners on a trip over the decades to create a timeless classic. Giles combines soulful vibes and hip-hop elements to create “Alive.” From the energetic big synth hook to the verse that flows with groovy 70s keyboard licks, the bass drum is the track’s heartbeat. When you think the song cannot get any better, Giles throws in some rock power chords for good measure making the hook explode with energy.

“My hip hop seeks musicality via instrumentation, chord progressions, and basslines,” explained Giles. “I write songs with rich melodies and harmonies as the framework.”

Sonically Giles’ style stands out, but there is more to his music - a deep meaning resonates in “Alive.”

“There’s so much clout and swag rapping, but for me, there is so much more that hip hop can bring instead of just talking shit. My music is introspective and self-reflecting. I dive deeper than just material possession and machismo,” said Giles.

Born and raised in Orlando, Giles’s mission is to bring music to the people. He hits all the marks with “Alive” that exceeds its lyrical context and propels him back into the industry as a performer to watch.

“‘Alive’ is very relevant for the times we are living in. It’s an anthem for people who feel they need a win,” said Giles. “When you hear the chorus, you’ll want to get back in the game, and get that W.”

While Giles plans to release more singles in the future, listeners love the 3:33 minutes of “Alive.”

“This song is for people who have suffered, which is all of us,” he said. “Hopefully, ‘Alive’ can reach the underdogs of the world and put a little wind in their sails.”

POP RECORDING ARTIST "MTStreets STOPS BY AND TALKS ABOUT HIS NEW SINGLE "HIGHWAY TO HELL" AND MUCH MORE!

Pop Artist MTStreets Drives Fans Along the “Highway to Hell,” Mapping Out his Addiction Battle

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST BELOW!

MTstreets (37:32)

Download the MP3

MIAMI - As a singer/songwriter and record producer, Mark Thomas Rhodes is known professionally as MTStreets with a growing discography packed with raw-thought-provoking lyrics. While previous songs included multiple genres, like pop, hip hop, R&B, and rap, MTStreets has found his lane.

“I was experimenting over the last few years with my rap beats, but after my last album dropped in June, I took eight months off,” he explained. “During that time, I refined my sound and found my lane. Pop music just stuck.”

MTStreets has returned to the music scene with his debut pop single, “Highway to Hell,” featuring Nova Blisto.

Featuring a modern funk sound and Charlie Puth-like beats, “Highway to Hell” has a pop beat built to dance, but there is more to this track than just dancefloor vibes. “The beat keeps you moving, but the lyrics are dark,” MTStreets said. “When you dissect the whole song, there’s a lot going on in there. It keeps you moving as things are happening and sh*t is going on. But that doesn’t stop me. I still moved forward. I didn’t let it kill me.”

MTStreets wrote “Highway to Hell” as a cathartic response to his battle with addiction and the yo-yo cycle of entering rehab, leaving, and relapsing back to drug use.

Fighting his demons and struggling with substance abuse since he was 16, MTStreets said “Highway to Hell” chronicles his five years of addiction. “‘Highway,’ to me, is about struggling with addiction and driving down that highway to Hell, and there wasn’t anyone to help. I needed help, and this song is about a time in my life that I had nobody. I’m singing it now about how I made it out.”

Joining MTStreets on “Highway to Hell” is West Coast hip hop artist Nova Blisto. The duo collaborated to write the lyrics and mixed and mastered the single. Excited to work with his friend and California native, MTStreets said, “Nova Blisto is one of the most talented artists I’ve ever worked with. He’s a lyrical genius, and his flow is super cool. He brings energy and authenticity to the song.”

The single continues to gain traction as its views climb. The lyric video gives a metaphoric visual on driving on the addiction highway and its destination - Hell.

MTStreets added that a music video would be released this month, in addition to his next single, “Driftin’ Away,” which released on March 7.

With the success of “Highway to Hell” and MTStreets’ discovery of his pop sound, he continues to write about challenging life experiences. “My music is in a darker pop lane and is mostly about the challenges I’ve gone through. There’s a lot of grief, heartbreak, and tragedies that inspire me to write,” he said.

Knowing that he is not alone in his struggles, MTStreets brings a new vision to his music, “I’m not trying to be anybody else but myself. I’m taking the raw, honest truth of what I’ve gone through in my life and use that to talk to other people who go through the same challenges.”

“For anyone who is broken inside and feels there is no way out of the dark hole they are in,” he said, “my music is designed to be a perfect example of how tragedy can turn into a real triumph.”

COLUMBUS, OHIO - Tre Nash and Jenesis are like many couples worldwide. They love going through life together - but this couple makes music magic unlike anyone else.

Unlike many duos in today’s music, Tre Nash and Jenesis’s crossover genres lend to each musician’s strength. Tre Nash bridges 70s rock and combine modern-day pop, R&B, and hip hop into his sound. Jenesis is a natural R&B singer with jazz undertones. With the combination of Tre Nash’s flair and Jenesis’ dazzling sound, they create versatile, catchy, and unique music.

“Our album, “To the Sky and Back,” put our creativity to the test. We challenged ourselves to create a collection of different genres. ‘To the Sky and Back’ is all our creative juices into one body of work,” said Jenesis.

While Tre and Jenesis are individual artists pursuing their specialized artistries, the duo creates the perfect union to showcase their versatility and adaptability. “To the Sky and Back” takes listeners on a journey of love and life.

Written by Jenesis, “Give Me Your Soul” dives deep into their relationship. The song describes a woman who is not satisfied with day-to-day love. Using her soulful voice, Jenesis represents all women when she says she wants 100% of her man. Connecting with fans, their live studio performance has collected more than 10k views.

Tre created the song’s beat and lent his soulful yet rock-style influence to give the track an edge while playing guitar. “Jenesis took the steering wheel and made this song hers,” he said. “To me, it is the best song on the album.”

One of the last tracks to be added to the album, “See Them Up,” is a laidback hip-hop song with an inspirational foundation and coming of age story. “When I wrote my verse,” said Tre, “I thought about where I came from and how I became the person I am. The struggles that come from learning and embracing my surroundings are there.”

With an upbeat hook, “See Them Up” showcases their rapping abilities describing how far the couple has come, navigating past obstacles, and sharing their love. It is a celebration song with Jenesis calling for everyone to put their hands in the air. The studio performance on YouTube has more than 6.6K views.

With no two songs alike, Tre said, “No matter where you are, ‘To the Sky and Back’ has something for you.”

Jenesis agreed, “We want to pull every listener into a place they’ve never been before. The entire album gives you a feeling of awe. This is not just a feel-good album - it takes you to a magical place.”

REGGAE / R&B MUSIC RECORDING ARTIST "POSHY" STOPS BY AND TALKS NEW SINGLE 'BADDIE' AND UPCOMING EP!

Like a Smooth Operator, Poshy Drops Debut EP, “Mixed Emotions” Packed with Empowerment and Honesty

POSHY (27:06)

BROOKLYN - Jamaican-born Poshy entered the music scene with her single “Baddie,” which proved to be a fan favorite within days of dropping. Now, she is gearing up for the release of her debut EP, “Mixed Feelings.”

As a lyrical singer who evokes soul into every note, Poshy ticks the R&B, reggae, and pop genre boxes but does not label her music. Poshy blends songs with a retro and new age sound with a vocal edge like the legendary Sade. Utilizing her heritage and sound, Poshy is a Jamaican Sade.

Her debut single, “Baddie,” and her upcoming EP are an arousing collection of emotions ranging from sexy to whimsical fused with a 70-80s vibe.

“‘Mixed Feelings’ is straightforward, and it’s very close to me because it has to do with one of my worst relationships,” said Poshy. “There’s this feeling of ‘I love you,’ ‘I hate you,’ and yet ‘I love you.’”

The concept EP with five tracks chronicles the vast range of emotions and concludes with the realization that “it’s OK to be torn when you love somebody, but you also need to know when to let do go,” she added.

While the EP focuses on Poshy’s feelings, it is relatable to everyone. “I realized once I listened to a bunch of songs that it also has to do with not just a relationship that I was in but the people around me.”

“Mixed Feelings” kicks off with a “Summer’s End,” a groovy 80s-type vibe that showcases Poshy’s clever wordplay. Much like the end of a season, Poshy lends her vocals to weave the story of wanting to end a relationship when your partner does not. “You realize the relationship is not going anywhere, and you don’t want to waste time. There are four seasons, and I’m trying to tell this guy it should end, and he says, ‘No.’”

“Summer’s End” displays Poshy’s emotions yet empowers her while elevating her to take control of her life through a smooth combination of melodic lyrics.

Shifting to mainstream pop, “Fluttering” is a dance track that invites someone into your life, much like a butterfly landing on your finger. The up-tempo falling in love song highlights the moment you meet your soulmate and let your bodies do the talking.

Poshy has come a long way since her childhood days in Jamacia, where she found her love of music by singing in the church choir and at various community events. However, music was placed on the backburner after migrating to the U.S. to attend college. When a corporate career did not fulfill her, Poshy turned to music, her first love.

In addition to being a rising artist, Poshy is an entrepreneur and philanthropist, operating Vanity Vend, Inc., which supports women in need. During the pandemic, Vanity Vend supplied women across the country with feminine care products and a reason to push forward through COVID-related hardships.

Ensuring her music stays true to her heart and mission to empower and support women throughout the world, Poshy said, “I’m an onion. There are so many layers to me.”

Unlike an onion that makes you cry, Poshy’s music evokes emotions that run the spectrum. Her timeless tracks soothe listeners to live an honest and empowered life.

R&B RECORDING ARTIST 'JARID WILLIAMS' STOPS BY AND TALKS ABOUT HIS NEW SINGLE "RECKLESS" AND MORE!

International Breakout R&B Artist Jarid Williams Drops “Reckless” in America Debut

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST BELOW!

JARID WILLIAMS (28:30)

Download the MP3

LOS ANGELES - Born in South Africa, Jarid Williams gained popularity in Australia as a rising R&B/pop artist. As one of the fastest rising talents in the industry, he has moved to the U.S. and released his first American single.

“R&B is a worldwide genre. With my experiences and since I’m from a completely different culture than American R&B artists, I sound like no one else out there,” said Jarid Williams.

Williams’ star began to ascend quickly after finishing as a top 50 finalist for Australian Idol in 2005. Fast forward to 2017 when he released his debut EP, “Unfall in Love,” which garnered rave reviews and national acclaim, including a South Africa and Australian tour.

In 2019, Williams earned a gold record for his single “Slow Down on It” and landed a top 20 hit with “Don’t Complicate It.” Williams became a familiar face on television and radio networks throughout Australia.

Recently, Williams’ accomplishments included competing at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. He competed against 5,000 of the world’s best and became Champion of the World for Vocal Pop and R&B/Jazz. This outstanding achievement led Williams to open for acts such as Brian McKnight, performing on the Men of R&B Tour, and he was nominated for an Australian Independent Music Award for his written material.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Williams was forced to pause touring, but his creativity and musical pedigree continued to flourish. With the Feb. 28 release of “Reckless,” Williams showcases his charismatic voice with a fusion of R&B, hip hop, soul, funk, and blues. Williams’ unique sound is a melting pot of genres that create his sound and style and strengthen his musical chops.

When describing his music, Williams said, “I’m speaking about real-life things. A lot of musicians out today in my genre are not talking about what people care about going through these days. My lyrics connect to people’s lives.”

Inspired by the Australian COVID lockdown, Williams channeled people’s feelings as they dealt with the mere insanity of being restricted to leave their homes. “People were going insane. So ‘Reckless’ came easy to me. The song is about temptation. Everyone has that moment when there is something that they shouldn’t do, but they do. It’s that temptation,” he explained.

Williams, who co-produces his music, said songwriting keeps him grounded. “I write about life experiences and the things that I go through and everyday life. The things I see and go through, I can draw on,” said Williams.

When listening to beats, Williams said that once he begins writing lyrics 30 minutes later, a song is born. Being in the songwriting zone comes easily to Williams, resulting in hit after hit.

“I’m not making music for a quick check,” stated Williams. “I’m an artist that you can go through the ages and grow with. Staying true to myself, I hope to be able to help people in what they are going through.”

With regular gigs, achieving a bachelor’s degree in business, and most impressively writing and producing his songs with an experienced team backing him, Williams is on the fast track to becoming a global household name.

POP DUO 'CAEK AND MINKO' STOP BY AND TALK ABOUT THEIR NEW SINGLE "ME and YOU" AND MORE!

Caek and Minko Explode on the Music Scene with “Me and You,” an Electro Pop Hit Packed with Stunning Vocals and Harmonies

LITTLETON, NH - There are songs about missing loved ones and needing to feel their touch, but then there’s “Me and You.” The latest single from Caek and Minko is an electro-pop ballad tailor-made for the dance floor with its sultry harmonies, vibrant vocals, and even a hip-hop verse. Add in a splash of 90s flare, and “Me and You” is pure perfection for your ears.

Growing up in Rhode Island, Caek and Minko have deep musical roots. Influenced by legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, Biggie, Michael Jackson, and others, the duo that performed separately have joined forces to create music magic.

“The most important thing is the people around you and the people you love,” said Minko when asked about “Me and You.”

The song originated when Minko took a 10,000-mile road trip without Caek. “I was out there seeing all these beautiful things, but I missed Caek,” he said.

That feeling of loneliness and longing for Caek spurred the couple to write “Me and You” and set in motion their joint effort to share their love and music with the world. Written, produced, and performed entirely by the duo in their home studio, the song reminds people of the simple things in life that bring joy.

“I definitely want people to dance along,” said Caek. “So, we pulled out all the stops and showed off our vocals. After hearing this song, people will know to look out for us.”

Minko added, “This is a spectrum of all the things we can do, and it put into one song. This is a dance-able warning shot.”

The debut single is a blend of multiple genres that fuse perfectly. Minko raps a verse while Caek belts out sultry harmonies showing off her vocal chops. Beneath the duo’s lyrics is an undercurrent that hypnotizes listeners to move their feet and dance to the upbeat track.

Nestled in their New Hampshire home with their toddler, the duo has songwriting down to a science. After writing a few chords at an upright piano, they separate and write melodies only to return to select the best and begin creating the song.

“Minko writes 99% of the lyrics,” said Caek. “I’ll add some things in, but it’s mostly him. The best thing about our partnership is that we make each other better musicians.”

Together they record, mix, and produce music from their home studio. The result is simply amazing.

With a music video for “Me and You” on the horizon, featuring clips of the duo recording and spending time with their child, Caek and Minko are not slowing down. They are already hard at work on their next single.

“In an industry where women often get looked over, we have a partnership that’s 50-50. It is perfect, and I hope other women musicians will be inspired,” explained Caek.

“I care about making good music. I put everything into it and even lyric writing; it is never a sacrifice,” said Minko. “We worked so hard at making ‘Me and You’ that we need to stand up now and make the world dance.”

With their debut single making waves worldwide as more fans are introduced to Caek and Minko, this duo is destined for greatness.
