PACQUIAO STOMPS A MUDHOLE IN DAVID DIAZ! By Brad Cooney

photo courtesty Chris Cozzone - Fightnews.com

Let there be NO doubt who the new pound for pound king is. His name is Manny Pacquiao! Four division world champion Manny Pacquiao defined what you would call a boxing clinic. David Diaz would have been better off fighting 100 starving Pitbulls rather than fight Manny Pacquiao last night. No doubt, Diaz showed courage, a typical Mexican warrior, but he was no match for the faster and yes, stronger Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao came out in the first round and quickly established control of the fight. Diaz himself admitted, "He's too fucking fast."

There has been many debates on who the pound for pound king should be, Mayweather or Pacquiao? With the SO CALLED retirement of Floyd Mayweather, and last nights demolition and destruction of David Diaz, there is no longer any debate.

One of the highlights of the fight (other than the knockdown) was when Pacquiao threw 4 to 5 consecutive right hooks before Diaz could even attempt a counterpunch. I forgot what round it was in, but it was something pretty.

I asked Manny Pacquiao before the fight if he thought that fighting at 135lbs would impact his power at all, and he replied, "No it won't be a problem, I walk around at 150lbs anyway, so it won't be a problem." Well, he was certainly right on that point. Pacquiao ended the slaughter with a punishing left hand that sent Diaz crashing to the canvass face first.

The post fight interview with Diaz was an interesting one. I don't remember hearing that many "F" bombs dropped since my days serving in the U.S. Navy on board my ship. Diaz even suggested that Pacquiao had a knife in the ring with him (jokingly).
Diaz was humbled, and showed mad respect to the victor, Manny Pacquiao, "He was just too fast for me, too, too fast."

What's next? Roach says, "Ricky Hatton." Nate Campbell? Nobody knows for sure right now, but know this, whoever Manny Pacquiao's next opponent is, they better be very ready.

JASON ESTRADA OPEN LETTER TO CHRIS ARREOLA!

ESTRADA CALLS OUT ARREOLA

Open Letter to Chris Arreola From U.S. Olympian Jason Estrada: Congratulations on your win last weekend against Chazz Whitherspoon. I honestly didn’t agree with the referee’s decision to disqualify Chazz. Hell, I really wasn’t impressed by anything you did. I think it’s time for us to determine who America’s top heavyweight prospect is. Chris, I had an understanding that if Chazz had beaten you, he was going to fight me next... I’m willing and able to fight anybody who is in my way, including you, Chris. I’m calling you out, brother. I know you want to be heavyweight champ, too, so try and go through me instead of taking the easy way out... There are a lot of cupcakes and tomato cans on your resume. My opponents had a winning percentage of 71-percent, yours is only 56-percent. Can you spell protected? I have one loss on my record because I was willing to fight in the other guy’s (Travis Walker) hometown. He had 20 pro fights, I only had six, and I hurt my shoulder early in the fight. Styles make fights and fans always love to watch a puncher like you fight a boxer like me. Supposedly, I can’t punch, so just get into the ring with me and find out what I have -- great whiskers and the fastest hands in our division. You’re supposed to be the “Nightmare.” Try and scare me. Sincerely, Jason “Big Six” Estrada

LB FOR LB GREATEST FLOYD MAYWEATHER SAYS GOODBYE.

Dear Media:
It is with a heavy heart that I write you this message today. I have decided to permanently retire from boxing. This decision was not an easy one for me to make as boxing is all I have done since I was a child. However, these past few years have been extremely difficult for me to find the desire and joy to continue in the sport. I have said numerous times and after several of my fights over the past two years that I might not fight again. At the same time, I loved competing and winning and also wanted to continue my career for the fans, knowing they were there for me and enjoyed watching me fight. However, after many sleepless nights and intense soul-searching I realized I could no longer base my decision on anything but my own personal happiness, which I no longer could find. So I have finally made up my mind, spoken to my family, particularly my mother, and made my decision. I am sorry I have to leave the sport at this time, knowing I still have my God-given abilities to succeed and future multi-million dollar paydays ahead, including the one right around the corner. But there comes a time when money doesn't matter. I just can't do it anymore. I have found a peace with my decision that I have not felt in a long time. Finally, I want to personally thank all of my fans for their loyalty and dedication as my career comes to a close. I always believed that their enthusiasm and support helped carry me to victory with every fight I ever had. It was a great joy to have fought for all of you. Now I hope you understand my decision and wish me well with the rest of my life.
Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"PACQUIAO IS LOOKING SHARP" - - Freddie Roach

I just spoke with Freddie Roach, and he informs me that Manny is having another monster camp, "Pacquiao looks sharp," said Roach, he's really feeling good, and his spirits are high."

Pacquiao is currently training for his June 28th showdown with David Diaz. Roach seems to be in high spirits too, "We went to a Giants game, and I boxed their mascot. The mascot came down with some boxing gloves on, so I had to show him out it's done."

Roach talked about having some bigger sparring partners for Manny, "I have some bigger guys that Manny has been sparring with, it's really preparing him well for what he'll need on June 28th."

With big fights come natural distractions, and Roach commented on that, "Well there are little distractions with the events that the promoters want Manny to attend, but it's nothing to worry about. Manny is more than ready to do what he has to do against Diaz on June 28th."
