Music was always Dominik Kadoniya Kelly’s first love, but it was his poetry that first earned him a reputation.

The 26-year-old, who was born in Germany and now lives in the Washington, D.C. area, gained a huge following on Twitter with his “Bittersweet Tuesdays” poetry that showed a vulnerable side and built an intimate connection with his audience.

“I posted a poem one day and everybody liked it so I kept posting them but I always liked music,” says Kelly. “After the poetry got the ball rolling and I built a fanbase I decided to translate that into what I actually wanted to do with myself.

The result? A music artist best known as MarleyIBe who just released his newest project: Bone, which features 11 tracks with an old-school mixtape feel like the ones Kelly grew up listening to with skits and hosting by DJs. Kelly wants each of his projects to have a different vibe and Bone serves as his step out party.

“Just an introduction, a different way for people to view me,” he says. “The next projects won’t sound anything like this.”

Bone has more of a trap rap feel to it and it likely won’t take fans by surprise as much as Kelly’s first tape, which caught many off guard who only knew Kelly for his poetry.

“The music was very different from what people were expecting and they were surprised by what they heard,” he says. “With this tape they know more what to expect.”

“A lot of people seem to gravitate towards the song ’Skrt’ and I believe that’s because it has a really catchy hook and there’s a chant-like vibe, a cadence that I do in the song that gives it a chant-like vibe and I think people are attracted to that,” he says. “It makes them gravitate towards the song as soon as it turns on.”

The project’s third track, “Baby Muva,” features Rico Nasty, who’s signed to Atlantic Records.

Overall it’s a very upbeat project and Kelly strived to create something cohesive, something that blended together as one. It’s a fun project not meant to be taken too seriously.

Kelly considers himself a dynamic artist and while most of his releases to date feature his rapping ability he’s not just a hip-hop artist. All of his projects currently in the works sound completely different and his next release will give off more of an alternative rock and pop vibe. His first full album, still in the works, will feature more of his poetry.

“I grew up in Germany with my father in the military so I moved around a lot,” Kelly says. “The type of music I grew up listening to wasn’t the same that most people were influenced by or had the ability to experience. From just music in different languages to festival type music, people don’t really go outside their comfort zone as far as what they listened to here and my parents forced me to listen to different types of music growing up.”

Kelly, in particular, was heavily influenced by Tupac as a person and an artist and says Lil Wayne has been a great inspiration. And Bob Marley – if Kelly’s stage name doesn’t give it away – has also been a key influence.

The MarleyIBe name originated when everybody said Kelly looked like the legendary reggae artist.

“There’s an old Lil Wayne song and he references somebody else and he says ‘Marley I Be’ talking to the person outside int he studio,” Kelly says. “I don’t know why, that just always stuck with me. Somebody else I knew blessed me with the name and decided that should be with me and I’ve rolled with it ever since.”

Kelly’s goal as MarleyIBe is to make music that everybody can listen to.

“Maybe this song isn’t for you but I want to make a song for everybody,” he says.

LAS VEGAS, NV – A fun track from a young new artist is lighting up the West Coast and causing quite a buzz among music industry insiders and fans alike. “I’m A Baller” is the debut single from 8-year-old rapper Lil Jeezy. The son of long-time songwriter and recording artist D’jon, Lil Jeezy has burst onto the scene with his own brand of hip-hop that showcases his fun, carefree style and entertaining performance. Written by his father, “I’m A Baller” is a fun, upbeat track that’s all about being good at basketball and football. Inspired by his love of sports, the song also features a short film that showcases the young star chasing his dreams of being a professional athlete and putting in the work to achieve those dreams.

“I love being active and competitive, and I love shooting the basketball,” Lil Jeezy said. “I like the same type of music as my dad, and I’ve grown up watching him record and produce music, so it’s fun for me being creative. I love telling a story with my lyrics.”

Lil Jeezy’s father was an athlete and has been involved with music as a career for many years, but he’s never encouraged any of his children to follow in his footsteps. He’s been intentional about supporting them in whatever passions they choose to pursue, and for the most part those passions have been with athletics. But for his youngest son, the notion of making music is something that attracted him at a young age, and when he was 6 he finally approached his father about creating a song together.

“He just out of the blue was like, ‘Dad, I want to do a music video. Can we do it today?’” D’jon said. “I said, ‘Well, we need music first.’ So, we got some production from two-time Grammy-nominated producer DJ Vudu Spellz and I wrote the song. He’s been an athlete for the past couple of years, so when I asked him what he wanted the song to be about, he said sports. When we got ready to record it, he had the whole thing memorized and he took direction very well, as far as vocal production, and he fell in love with the process and now wants to do even more songs.”

D’jon said they’ve been working ever since on building a brand and plan for pursuing Lil Jeezy’s dreams moving forward. Part of that plan involves creating music videos that are more like short films than traditional music videos. That’s where the idea of creating a story called “Follow Your Dreams” came from – something that builds off the themes of Lil Jeezy’s debut song but takes it further through video mediums and will continue in future films.

“It’s an inspirational story for kids,” D’jon said. “If there’s something you want to accomplish, put in the work and you can make it happen. With this first video it shows him hanging out with friends on a Saturday morning, and when the friends leave, he gets bored and so he picks up a basketball and he’s absolutely horrible. After a frustrating effort, he sits down on the ball and starts daydreaming. During the daydream he realizes his dream is to become a great basketball and football player. It’s as though, even at a young age, he is such a sports superstar that his games are nationally televised. He has fans and he even has haters. After the daydream is over, he asks his dad to teach him how to play basketball. Being that basketball was his first love, dad becomes elated at his son’s request. Then after months of hard work and dedication, he shows his growth from working hard and there are highlights from his first season ever playing, in which he is much better than he was when he first picked up the ball in the video. He’s a living example that hard work pays off.”

Lil Jeezy is eager for new fans to check out his music and get a taste for the unique sound and style he’s bringing to the game. It’s been many years since there’s been a young artist like Lil Bow Wow or Lil Romeo, and D’jon is certain Lil Jeezy will be able to fill that vacuum with an amazing natural talent. With songs and subject matter that comes straight from the mind of an 8-year-old, Lil Jeezy’s music is nothing short of fun and entertaining.

UTICA, NY – The new album from East Coast hip-hop underground legend R Dollas is the epitome of a street album with a lot of punches. But even as such, “All 4 Tha Dolla” is an album that will invite listeners to get up on their feet and dance. The distinct 90s vibe has a new-age bop to it that creates a truly modern-day New York feeling. Produced by hip-hop legend Rick Hyde, the album is a perfect showcase of the supernatural talent of R Dollas and his ability to weave witty words with hard-hitting lyrics that are simultaneously relatable and challenging.

“My creativity and the story I tell is what has been setting me apart for the past 15 years,” R Dollas said. “I try not to really fantasize too much and just keep everything realistic. Ultimately I want my music to be known for motivation and hopefully helping someone who understands my story and is going through the same things. They can see where I came from and where I’m trying to go and use that as motivation for themselves.”

R Dollas said he’s been rapping since he was 8 years old, and has been recording professionally since his teenage years. His first big track was a collaboration with the notorious Big Casanova, and since then he’s released multiple mixtapes, albums, EPs and hit singles. Over the years he’s become known as a savvy artist with ambition and creativity who brings a gritty rawness to his lyrics and invites listeners to follow him on his journey.

“Growing up in the projects, music was a way out,” R Dollas said. “When I got in trouble and put on punishment, I would write raps and watch videos all day. Now I basically live in the studio. Doing five years in prison, and then another two years, gave me more than enough to read and write about what I was going through.”

R Dollas said he plans on releasing five videos from the album – “Everybody Gotta Eat,” “Meow,” “Gloves In The Summer,” and “2 Words.” He has also already released the debut single/video for “Groupies.”

SINGER SONGWRITER/PRODUCER/ HIP HOP ARTIST: PAUL MORRIS TALKS NEW ALBUM 'THE FLIGHT' AND MORE CURRENT PROJECTS!

Artistry of Paul Morris set to be put on full display with string of single releases leading to full album ‘The Flight’

LOS ANGELES, CA – The full realization of Paul Morris’ artistic masterpiece is about to be unveiled for a global audience. What started with his hit single “No Reverse” at the beginning of the year now continues with “Coolest,” the next in a string of singles set to be released every month from now until July of 2022. And each song comes with an animated video – one playing off the other for a story woven together through song and artistic expression. Ultimately the story will be contained in the album “The Flight,” which will be released at the end of the journey.

Unlike “No Reverse” – which featured a spacey, out-of-this-world vibe – “Coolest” kicks the door open with a unique and original production style that perfectly sets the stage for the music to be featured on “The Flight.” It’s a song that shows the world who he is as an artist and what he’s able to bring to the table as a producer. It also defines him as a person lyrically, and introduces just one of many sounds perfected with the help of Grammy-nominated recording and mixing engineer Bryan Cruz.

“It’s going to be a broad album with different sounds throughout,” Morris said. “There’s definitely a different tempo on this song than the last one, which has a slower tempo and was more political. With this song it’s all me and it’s a party and we’re cruising together. It’s a vibe, and kind of an autobiography, but in a cool way. Ultimately it’s a song about how cool I am and how cool the project is.”

Formerly known as the artist Konchynce, Morris has long been a sought-after producer in the industry. He’s been making music for the better part of the last decade and has had the opportunity to work with many Grammy-nominated producers and engineers. Early in his career he worked with Derrick “Drop” Braxton on his mixtape “The Knowledge.” Drop is a producer perhaps best known for working with Lupe Fiasco on his album “The Cool,” which has received high praise from industry insiders since its release in 2007. Morris said he connected with Drop shortly after Lupe’s album release, and took him under his wing. He’s put in the hard work and honed his sound to be something truly special.

“My music is always about positivity,” he said. “I produce my own music, collaborate with other artists, and just try to make positive, moving music. ‘The Flight’ is about taking things to the next level. That’s really the theme of the whole album – moving to the next level. What the journey and the ride is like to start as an independent artist and becoming a superstar. The incline and taking off – me taking off and going to the next level. I’ve been behind the scenes for a long time, and this is like the takeoff.”

“Coolest” is slated to drop across all streaming platforms on Sept. 17. To listen to Paul Morris’ music, or to follow him on social media, please visit the following links:
