Enuff Z'Nuff detail new studio album Brainwashed Generation | Louder

Originally formed in 1984 in Chicago, IL, the band received their big break in 1989 when they signed to Atco/Atlantic Records. Founding members, Chip Z'Nuff and Donnie Vie were joined by guitarist Derek Frigo and drummer Vikki Foxx and they commenced work on their major label debut. The self-titled album was a monster hit and spawned two evergreen singles, “New Thing” and “Fly High Michelle”. Both received constant airplay on radio and heavy rotation on MTV, spending over 60 weeks in the Top 10. 1991 saw the band release their sophomore album, “Strength”. The album had more of a hard rock overtone and sustained the success achieved on the first album. The band made high profile television and radio appearances on the likes of David Letterman and Howard Stern and were featured in Rolling Stone’s Hot Issue as ‘The Next Big Thing'. The band soldiered on during the new musical climates of the ‘90s and went on to release another over a dozen more studio records.

ATLANTA, GA – Struggle is a common denominator for most people in the U.S. today… and indeed, most people in the world. In fact, most days it feels as if there’s nothing but struggle, but up-and-coming soul artist Ty Lashay has a message of hope for the world that is both timely and timeless.

The young woman from Atlanta, Georgia has released a new single called “Sometimes It Rains” that is already starting to turn heads in the music industry. The feel-good vibe plays with heavy piano chords intermingled with layered lighter piano melodies against an upbeat, jazzy rhythm – all of which plays perfect counter point to Lashay’s soulful vocals. Listeners will be reminded of the powerful presence of Lauryn Hill or Mary J Blige when they hear Lashay’s voice, and they’d be right to make those comparisons as the words in her songs carry equal depth to those living legends.

“I’m a freestyle songwriter, meaning I’m writing lyrics off the top of my head and I’m writing what I feel,” Lashay said. “So when I’m going through stuff, I write about it. This song is about the struggle – everybody’s struggle – and saying that it’s OK. If people mock you in your struggle or while you’re going through things, that’s OK. Sometimes it rains, but the sun is gonna shine again. If people hate you or mock you or laugh at your struggle, it’s OK. I have struggles. You have struggles. Everybody has struggles. Sometimes we struggle and feel pain, and it’s OK.”

Ty Lashay – Sometimes It Rains – The Hype Magazine

Though Lashay has been a professional songwriter for a few years, this is her debut solo track. She said she’s excited for a wider audience to hear her voice and discover her soulful, emotional and inspiring music. She’s come a long way since writing her first song at the age of 10. Having honed her craft in the thriving musically influential city of Atlanta, Lashay has had the opportunity to travel and perform at some of the top music venues in the U.S.

One of the main places she performed at in Atlanta was at the "Original Apache Cafe ", a legendary venue in that city and abroad. She’s also had the opportunity to record sessions at Atlanta’s historic Patchwerk Studios, which is where “Sometimes it Rains” was recorded. And throughout thoseexperiences, she has developed a unique sound and style that is equal parts original and
nostalgic.

“I sound real different from anyone else out there today, but my music is also soulful and will
sound familiar in some ways when people listen to it,” she said. “I’m diverse and my music has
a real feel – an emotional feel – to it. I’m real truthful with my lyrics and the sound is organic.

I write inspiring music but also music to have fun with. Most of the time, I’m trying to send out a
message and I feel like what I’m putting out there is speaking to everybody. I recognize the
responsibility I have with that and I try to be conscious of the fact that my music is the kind of
music that makes you think and feel. At the end of the day, I want my music to be inspirational
worldwide. I want to be motivational and reach people and change people’s minds.

I want to touch souls and lives and make people think. I feel like I can reach people pretty much
everywhere and lift a lot of people’s spirits up so they can forget their problems and troubles
and bring a big smile to their faces.”

“Sometimes it Rains” is currently available across all streaming platforms, and Lashay said she
plans to follow that up with another single called “I Pray” later this summer.

PUNK RAP ARTIST DILLON LEE CRONAN TALKS NEW SINGLE "LEARN HOW TO SMILE" AND UPCOMING VIDEO RELEASE

Southern rocker blends punk and rap for modern twist on throw-back sound

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST BELOW!

Dillon Lee Cronan (22:40)

Download the MP3

DALLAS, TX – Punk Rap music is about to spring back into the conversation thanks to Deep South artist Dillon Lee Cronan. The young musician from Dallas, Texas has perfected his one-of-a-kind sound and is set to put it on display with the release of his new single “Learn How to Smile.” It’s the first off an upcoming Punk Rap album called “A Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood” which is already available across all streaming platforms. However, the music video for “Learn How to Smile” will drop this summer.

Growing up in Dallas, Cronan said he was heavily influenced by punk rock bands while simultaneously being enthralled by the Hip Hop culture. His experimentation with music through the years became an organic blending of those two genres, so that by the time he was a teenager, he was playing guitar and spitting raps. He’s been performing around Dallas for the past five years while writing songs for his new album, and now he’s ready to show the world what he has to offer.

“I haven't seen any big recognition of Punk Rap as a genre,” Cronan said. “I love those bands from the 90s like Everclear and Sum 41 and 311, but I also love Nas and Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick. So as I was looking at the industry today and realizing there weren’t any current bands with that kind of a sound, I realized that if it hadn’t happened already then it needed to. I was definitely the one who could push that type of sound.”

With “Learn How to Smile,” Cronan is bringing a song that is both timely for current affairs of
the world, and perfectly suited to reintroduce the world to the sound of Punk Rap. Cronan said
the message of the song is about putting a strong face on through struggles – not so much
wearing a mask and hiding the inner turmoil, but rather choosing to adopt a positive outlook
and rest in the hope of a better future.

“Shit’s bad but you gotta keep a positive outlook,” he said. “So basically, it’s a song about being
easy. It’s pretty upbeat, and the sound is kind of aggressive. Instrumentally, it’s like a Punk band
– like Green Day or Sum 41 – but then I rap. I picked up the guitar when I was 15 and started
getting into Jimmy Hendrix, but Hip Hop has always been my favorite genre because I just love
the wordplay. I didn’t get into Punk until my late teens, but I just love how fast and simple and
aggressive it is. This song is a blending of all of those things. It’s my favorite type of music to
jam to, and so I decided it’s what I wanted to blend together for my own sound.”

Cronan said the full album further explores that sound and will take listeners on a ride that will
be undeniable in its energy and invitation to let out that angst that all great 90s music was
known to do.

HIP HOP RECORDING ARTIST KURRLINA TALKS NEW SINGLE "KARMA" AND MORE! Q&A PODCAST

North Carolina rapper with new single ‘Karma’ proves that hard work pays off

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST BELOW

Kurrlina (19:15)

Download the MP3

FAIRMONT, NC – Those who live in North Carolina know that there’s a certain way you say “Carolina.” You need to use a thick Southern drawl with the vowels drawn out so that it sounds more like “Kurrlina.” It’s a signature sound that stands out – there’s nothing like it anywhere else in the world.

That’s also true of North Carolina rapper Markel Albritton who embraces his roots by using the stage name Kurrlina Kurrlina. As one would expect, his drawl is forefront as part of his signature sound, but its witty wordplay and catchy hooks are turning heads all along the East Coast these days.

His newest single “Karma” has been getting quite a bit of attention. The upbeat, all-purpose track is perfect for club banging or hanging in the hood. It’s full of energy and pairs with an inspirational message that encourages listeners to pull through the negative things in their lives and turn them into positives.

“I work hard and I’ve been working hard for years,” Kurrlina said. “That, more than anything, is what sets me apart from anyone else. Nobody sounds like me and I don’t sound like anybody
else because my style is distinct. But more than anything, I never quit. I keep going and growing and stay popping, and that’s what this song is about.”

Kurrlina said he first was introduced to Rap through his love of poetry. He became known in high school as a guy who would put a lot of crazy words together to create interesting rhyme schemes, and when he started using that power to share his unique story, people started to pay attention. Today, most of his music is based on his life and the stories he has to share with the world. Those stories are inspired by the things he’s seen or gone through and tinged with his dreams and aspirations for the future.

“I’m talk about real-life, inspirational stuff,” he said. “I represent the struggle and my music is inspired by real events, which is why it relates to people. I’m trying to spread a wave and set a mark on the world. I have what it takes not just to survive but to thrive, and it’s time for people to take notice. We’re just doing what we gotta do to get where we wanna go.”

Over the past decade, Kurrlina has dropped five mixtapes each year, with music that has won him five outstanding performances and put him on the map in a way that has allowed him to open for major artists such as Migos, Rich Homie Quan, Young LA, and Legend Zero. He has also dropped several videos, each gaining hundreds of thousands of plays on his YouTube channel. Now under the management of J’Will with J’Will Entertainment, Kurrlina said he’s ready to take his music to the next level and begin bringing in a wider international audience.

HIP HOP RECORDING ARTIST 'JayyTheSinger' TALKS NEW ALBUM "KOLD WORLD" AND NEW SINGLE "ALL NIGHT"

Young Instagram influencer JayyTheSinger  parlays success into debut album ‘Kold World’

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST BELOW

Jayy The Singer (10:49)

Download the MP3

BILOXI, MS – Hip Hop Recording Artist Javeion Robinson – better known as Jayy The Singer – is taking the success he’s built from his time on Instagram and putting that into his debut album, “Kold World,” which is set to release worldwide across all streaming platforms on May 1.

Raised in Biloxi, Mississippi, Jayy has long been a fan of Hip Hop and R&B. He points to legends like Chris Brown and Drake as his biggest inspirations. He said that a lot of the videos he posted on Instagram over the years were drawn directly from ideas spurred by those two artists.

Now at age 17, this fast-rising young artist is ready to show the world his unique sound and style with his debut album. He describes the project as one that blends Pop and Rap in a way that feels similar to Drake’s style of rapping and singing. More than anything, it’s a project that showcases Jayy’s God-given talents as a vocalist and his standout ability to carry a tune.

“I have real vocal talent and I’m not doing anything in the studio to do tricks to make my voice sound good, or tweak things to make it sound a certain way,” Jayy said. “I’m that artist who has real talent who is trying to make it in the industry. I’m making good quality music and I’m not trying to chase the trends or to be that guy in the limelight. I just want to do what I love and make good music at the end of the day.”

Jayy said he first realized he had the kind of voice that could make it in the industry when he started listening to Chris Brown’s songs and could emulate that singer’s voice. His older sister would listen to Chris Brown all the time, and Jayy said he’d listen and sometimes sing along and think to himself, “I can do that. I can sing, too.” Then in his teenage years Drake became a big influence, and Jayy soon realized he had the kind of voice and writing ability to get some notice. This, of course, led him to begin creating Instagram videos, and soon after he was writing his own songs.

His talent as a songwriter is on full display with his new album. The debut single, “All Night,” is already starting to turn heads for its ability to get people on their feet and ready to move to the groove. He said it’s the perfect song for this time period as so many people are tired of being cooped up in the house.

“It’s definitely a song that will get you up and moving and dancing,” he said. “More than that, though, it’s a song that will just give people some positive energy during this weird time.”

That dance vibe is one of the standout singles on the album, Jayy said, though there are others that are equally upbeat and will make people bop their heads. Most of the songs speak truth and tell stories from Jayy’s life, though one that he’s particularly proud of is a tribute to one of his sports heroes, Kobe Bryant, who died earlier this year in a helicopter crash. Jayy has played basketball most of his life and said music was second to his dreams of playing professional basketball for many years. But he has gone all-in on his music, and can’t wait for people all over the world to get a taste of what he has to share.

Known as 828, the fast-rising duo of GoldenPrince and DripE have found their tracks receiving high praises from people in the U.S. and abroad. Their first EP, “Drop Off,” was a bold introduction to a sound and style that has people sitting up and paying attention. And they’re set to follow up that success with their new album, “Check In.”

“It’s a project where we’re trying to target different types of audiences,” GoldenPrince said. “There’s songs with females on it. There are songs speaking about life and what we’ve been through. There are songs that people will be able to relate to. It’s different from our first project which we got a lot of good feedback from. We’ve been working extremely hard on the album – up at 5 a.m. working on songs even though we had class at 9 a.mWe were determined to complete this album, but we wanted to take our time and make sure we had quality over quantity.”

The project will include 12 songs that put 828’s signature sound on full display. From the
beginning, the best friends have had a special connection. They first met at age 10 when they
were on the same basketball team. Now that they go to the same college, they’ve expanded
that bond to include a mutual pursuit of music. And that unique bond shines through their
music. Listeners can immediately tell that there’s chemistry there, leading to excellence in
sound, style, flow and production.

828 – Sack – The Hype Magazine

“We have more of a mainstream type of sound,” GoldenPrince said. “And it’s an international
sound. We have people in Mexico and other places around the world listening to our music, so
it’s not just for people in the U.S. We have different audiences all over, and that’s great because
we just want to showcase our skills. We’re great storytellers but we also bring energy. We want
to make you dance. We create different types of music – some to make you think and some to
make you dance. This album showcases that. Every song is going to give you a different feel.
That’s how we want to separate ourselves, with that different sound and experience.”

DripE added that the main impetus for the songs they create are whether or not it’s something
they’d want to listen to at the end of the day. “We’re young and we go to parties and we like
music,” he said. “We want to make music we’d like to hear at those parties. But we’re doing it
with a different kind of vibe. We’re making music you can vibe to but also music you can relate
to.”

The debut single from the album has already been released and is available across all streaming
platforms. The song is “Sack” and takes an upbeat tone to convey 828’s story of coming up and
making it in the music industry. DripE said it has more of a California vibe than a lot of their
other songs, and definitely falls into the lane of the kind of song that will make people want to
get up and dance.

“We have a lot of influences and have listened to a lot of different artists over the years, but we
don’t want to be compared to anybody else,” GoldenPrince said. “We want to leave a legacy
where 10 years from now you could look back and say that 828 is one of the best rap duos of all
time. I believe we’re up next.”

All three judges were very impressed. I heard comments from them like "great chemistry" and "amazing transitions" so when the judges are saying things like that, it usually bodes very well.
