ETHOS STOPS BY AND TALKS NEW RECORD "TEN COMMANDMENTS"

ETHOS stops by the show and talks about his NEW record "Ten Commandments"
HAVE A LISTEN BELOW

ETHOS (21:31)

Ethos sparks debate with new album ‘Ten Commandments’

CLEVELAND, OH – It’s one thing to create music people like – music you can nod your head to and enjoy for a brief moment in time. It’s a whole different thing to create an experience that sparks debate and makes people think more deeply. Music like that becomes more than just a mere enjoyable background noise – it becomes the type of art that can change lives.

That’s the kind of music Cleveland-based artist Ethos wants to create, and his new album “Ten Commandments” is the perfect testament to that mission. It’s a deeply challenging look at life using the Ten Commandments from the Bible as a point of reference. Each song takes the idea from the individual Ten Commandments and uses that as a platform to challenge listeners’ preconceived notions about life, culture and society.

The first track is “Zealot” which Ethos describes as an indictment on how humanity has twisted the purpose of the church over time. While he doesn’t exactly say that man has gotten it wrong, he does nudge the listener to look beyond mere blind faith and question the reasons why belief is there in the first place.

He follows this up with “Idolatry” which is a song that he said takes a closer look at anyone who would be arrogant enough to portray themselves as an absolute answer to anything.

“There’s a lot of symbology in the video for that song,” he said. “Really, I’m pushing people not to have role models that they don’t know a lot about. Don’t blindly idolize things – like the church, or gang leaders, or politicians or whomever. Too many people decide to go one direction without considering other perspectives. Don’t idolize. Be yourself.” A skit he has titled “Vanity” serves as the third track on the album and highlights the hypocrisy of today’s church leaders. This is followed by “Sabbath” through which Ethos challenges people to consider what they’re filling their lives with and how those things might be more negative than positive.

“A lot of people can’t even get the time they need to be themselves,” he said. “You can’t relax nowadays, and even if you try to, you still get hounded. This song is about learning how to put your foot down and be honest about what you want and what you want to do. If you want to keep your sanity, you need to take some time off – especially if you have children.”

“Vanity” is a bit of a break in terms of tone and sets the stage for some harder songs to come including “Parents,” “Murder” and “Adultery.” The first is a song that he said is a direct message to his birth mother, but which also encourages all other parents in the world to let their kids learn to stand on their own. “Murder” turns a corner in the album in terms of tone and subject matter. Ethos uses the song to call out anyone who follows a crowd for no other reason than that they want to belong.

“It’s about sheep and ‘Yes men’ on the front lines who don’t think for themselves, they just do what they’re told to do and people are dying for it,” Ethos said. “I’m trying to get the point across that we’re all brothers and violence isn’t the answer.”

“Adultery” is a song that Ethos said is very intense and is pulled directly from his own personal life experiences. It’s almost like he’s telling the story from his perspective, and he leaves no room for interpretation in what he’s saying.

“I’m telling the cheater that they’re an asshole for leaving, and it’s also an indictment on the person being cheated on because they’re afraid to try again,” he said. “If someone says that they love you, adultery is not a behavior you should do on someone you love.”

Ethos finishes off the album with two more songs and a skit. One song is “Klepto” which of course revolves around the idea of not stealing. But theft in essence serves as a metaphor for people who mooch off others to get ahead. Ethos said he can’t stand it when people are too lazy to get a job or get ahead in life and instead “steal” from others around them.

The skit “Married” follows that song and sets the stage for “Covet” which caps off the album. All of the songs come in under 30 minutes, and Ethos said it’s a project that is meant to be listened to from start to finish in order.

“I tried to make it as immersive of an experience and as deep of an experience as possible,” he said. “I tried to create a concept and make debate points, with things in the songs that can get crowd involvement whenever I’m performing live. Ultimately, I’m trying to create a debate in a neutral fashion with good music and to the best of my ability.”

JULES WALCOTT TALKS NEW SINGLE ‘Déjà vu’ AND OTHER CURRENT PROJECTS

Jules Walcott’s new single ‘Déjà vu’ serves as the perfect statement piece for a confident new sound

LONG ISLAND, NY – Having already made a name for herself along the East Coast for her raw, silky and sincere vocals, New York native Jules Walcott is now ready to make a big splash on the music industry with her new sound of alternative dark pop.

Her new single, “Déjà vu,” is the perfect showcase for her original sound and style. It combines all the classical training she’s had through the years with her experience as the frontwoman of a Long Island-based hard rock band. It’s a song that talks about the progression of going through a relationship – from starting as friends, to first dates, to fighting and eventually the break-up … and then doing it all over again with another person.

“I wanted to play on that feeling of getting in a relationship and breaking up and having that experience of being single again,” Walcott said. “I think it’s a song that’s really relatable to this generation. We’ve grown up with social media, where you can hit up somebody new every day or even every hour. It’s a cycle of going through relationships and not working out and feeling like, ‘Ugh! I’m single again.’”

Walcott describes the vibe of the song as “chill and mellow with a rock edge.” She said the initial pass at the song started out more upbeat and fast, but the lyrics eventually dictated a moodier vibe that needed to be slower. Through collaboration with her producer, she developed the single into a catchy slow song that is sure to get stuck in the listener’s head.

Making catchy songs with substance is what Walcott said she wants her career to be about. She said her “dark alternative pop” is still a sound that’s mainstream pop, though with an edgy feel
to it. But she’s not just stuck to that one lane. She can do mainstream pop, or Latin-infused
sounds, or even hard core rock. She’s done all kinds of music throughout her young career –
including opera and classical singing at one point. Finding her unique sound has been a journey
that she’s proud of, she said, and one which has helped her become more confident as an artist
and as a woman.

“When people hear my name or listen to my music, I want them to see a confident female who
is powerful and strong within herself,” Walcott said. “For so long, when I was younger, I wanted
to have a singing career and be a strong, independent woman. I didn’t know how I would get
there, and I looked up to my future self – this woman I saw as someone who wouldn’t be afraid
to speak her mind and do what she wants for the world. Now I feel like I’m closer to being that
woman, and I want younger girls to look up to that and be able to say, ‘Although I’m young, I
can still be a strong girl.’”

That confidence is demonstrated not only through her one-of-a-kind sound, but also through a
signature look that includes bright pink hair and a fashion style that is simultaneously
progressive and respectable. The pink hair with a black stripe is something she considers to be a
metaphor for her career.

“The black represents all the bad things in my life,” she said. “I keep it with me and I use it, but I
remember that the pink stuff – the good stuff – always outweighs the negative. That’s what was
going through my head as I was dying my hair the first time, and that’s what I continue to try to
represent with my life and my music.”

VOLCANIC GRIP TALKS NEW SINGLES "ABOUT ME" AND "BLACK MAGIC" Q&A PODCAST

Powerful new artist explores darker side of life  with new singles ‘About Me’ and ‘Black Magic’

ATLANTA, GA – If you ask Volcanic Grip how he came up with his name, he’ll tell you about the awesome power that lies just under the surface of Earth’s outer layer and how that’s the perfect metaphor to describe his personality.

When that powerful summoning of energy is combined with his unique talent as an artist – influenced by his upbringing in Atlanta and the music that city is known for – the world is treated to a one-of-a-kind sound that cannot be ignored. Grip said his music will always tell stories from his adrenaline-driven lifestyle. And though his sound and style are definitive, the content of his music is homage to the city of his birth.

“I want my music to be known for a revolutionary stance on what Atlanta and I have to bring to the table,” Grip said. “I’m telling stories mostly of where I’m from or what people where I’m from would think about – earthly things or political things or challenging things that have to do with different taboos or things that a lot of people aren’t talking about. I take pride in talking about those taboos.”

A good example of this is found in his most recent single, “About Me.” He describes it as a darker song that highlights the Atlanta lifestyle that he and a lot of others live on a daily basis.
Already, the song has seen some success on Spotify and other digital distribution outlets, and quite a few people have left positive comments about his dark trap and symphony-infused production.

He also has another single, “Black Magic.” It’s a song that he said challenges people’s thinking about revenge and duality.

A music video for “About Me” is in the works and should be finished by the end of April. He’ll continue to release more singles throughout the year as he continues to build his rising music career.

Jay Hype brings new sound of music with EP ‘S.N.A.’

LOS ANGELES, CA – A hot new sound from fast-rising hip-hop artist Jay Hype is such a unique breath of fresh air to the music industry that it has people all over the world sitting up and paying attention.

Her new EP “S.N.A.” is genre-breaking. Its fusion of hip-hop and R&B melds perfectly with her powerful lyricism and one-of-a-kind flow and delivery. Her sound is so groundbreaking that it’s being dubbed as the “new sound in music” – a sound that isn’t just relevant right now, but necessary.

At only age 22, she has become one of the fastest-rising young vocalists and female rappers in the industry. She started her career with the highly successful debut project, “N.E.A.,” which stands for “Not Emotionally Available.” Singles from that project put her on the map and elicited high accolades from some of the most well-known artists in the industry. And now she’s
ready to put her name on the map and an even bigger with the release of her follow-up project, “S.N.A. (Still Not Available).” It’s a project that she said continues the story from “N.E.A.,” as well as explores more of the sounds and subject matter she’s become known for. On N.E.A., Jay Hype delivers an assortment of unforgettable tracks, combining sounds of EDM and groundbreaking aura of hip-hop as she describes navigating through the trials and tribulations of drugs, women and newfound fame.

“I make new-age hip-hop and R&B that’s really unique,” she said. “I want my music to be known for touching people and changing lives. I make music that can relate to people through anything – whether it’s feelings, or driving around, or wanting to get turnt up. I have music for everybody. And as long as I can touch people and leave an impact, then I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”

The debut single from the new EP has been selected for the SoundCloud Fresh Pressed Playlist. “Over Here” is an upbeat club song that she said is a ton of fun and which showcases her unique talent as a vocalist and rapid-fire flow.

“It’s the kind of song that you want to hear when you’re at your peak lit-ness at the club,” she said. “It’s a song that you listen to when you’re not concerned about anything going on around you and you’re just having fun.”

Another hot single from the EP is “Trending Topic,” which she said is equally as fun as “Over Here,” but with a different vibe that’s more soulful and wavy. The lyrics talk about being in a place in one’s life where nothing is overly serious and all you want to do is just hang out without the extra emotional drama.

Anyone who listens to her new EP will know immediately what all the hype is about. Her style is one-of-a-kind. Her delivery is off the charts. Her sound is new, and it’s perfect for today’s music landscape. Don’t sleep on Jay Hype, because she’s about to break through the ceiling of what’s possible with music today.

WORLD OF DANCE CONTENDER BRIAR NOLET TALKS ADVANCING TO THE CUT ROUND

WORLD OF DANCE CONTENDER BRIAR NOLET

She told the world that she has epilepsy but don't think for a minute that she's going to let that get in the way.  Briar Nolet exploded onto the national scene a few weeks ago when she debuted on NBC's "World of Dance" with a mind blowing qualification round performance.

She advanced to the duels where she would take on S. Korean duo "All Ready" a formidable dance team that came to win themselves. Briar came up short this time, but Twitter went crazy with most of the fans expressing disbelief that she was scored so low on one of the judges cards. This forced her to perform in a redemption round which she took full advantage of.  Her redemption performance left NO doubt who was supposed to be in the cut. Briar Nolet lit the place on fire with a mind boggling dance performance. So off to the cut round she goes.

Briar stopped by the Podcast show and talked about her experience on the show thus far.
