Identical twins combine musical talent to make TFT

ATLANTA, GA – There are regions of the world that have identifiable “sounds” or sub-genres of music. There’s West Coast hip-hop, Atlanta trap and Chicago drill. New York is no different, but the young identical twins from Brooklyn who make up the group TFT are on the forefront of creating a new sound and style for New York. Their fusion of lyricism and drilling trap beats is showcased perfectly on their new song “Lenox Ave.”

Described as a song that “everybody can play wherever they are – in a car, the club or at home,” “Lenox Ave” has the perfect kind of vibe for kicking back and enjoying life. It’s lyrics pull from the twin brothers’ life experiences and connect with fans not only through shared stories, but also through the universal language of music.

Born in 1994, these identical twins have always been close. Growing up, their mother used to listen to music all the time, and they would often watch BET to find even more music. They recall writing lyrics pretty much as soon as they were old enough to know how to write, and even before that were turning their nursery rhymes into rap hymns. Her mother encouraged their love for music, and taught them how to mix music. She was a DJ for a time, and always
made a point to educate her children about music by showing them musical legends to study – such as Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Boogie Down Production, Tupac, Wu Tang, Queen Latifah and more.

At the age of 20, the brothers had collaborated on enough music to put out their first release – a demo called “Twin Takeover.” That was the start of a professional career that has taken off in the years since, and now they’re ready to take that next big leap forward.

In addition to “Lenox Ave,” TFT is also ready to release a single called “The World.” True to its name, it’s a song that explores how the brothers feel about the world and how people are looking at them now. Due to drop before the end of March, the song features straight lyrics and bars in a way that will make listeners want to nod their heads. And more than anything, at the end of the day the brothers say they hope people will see them as great lyricists who make great hip-hop music.

"ALL READY" IS ALREADY MAKING MAJOR MOVES ON "WORLD OF DANCE" Q&A INTERVIEW

Image result for ALL READY WORLD OF DANCE

How long have you been dancing?

We've been dancing for 13 years, and we've been together since we started dancing. We met while learning Latin ballroom dance..

How about the dance scene in Korea?

Currently, dance in South Korea has developed a lot. There are many dancers and dance scenes that are good enough to participate in the WOD, despite being a small country and having three teams in the world through various media.

How do you like America?

It's  really a great country with a lot to teach us..We want to learn not only dance, but also music, culture and people's open thoughts. I like it. When we went to America, we learned a lot and then came back home.

How does it feel to be surrounded by so many talents on the show?

It's the romance of every dancer. We achieved that dream in real life and we are so happy. What we also feel is that we are confident enough on the air. It was so fun and we got more confident.

How much time do you spend preparing?

Our preparations complemented the performance. We've been doing better, and  have been focused on us for about two months.

Were you two nervous?

We were very nervous. We don't get nervous when we go on stage, but the time we wait before we go up is the most tense. But once we went on the stage  we enjoyed ourselves.

How has the reaction back home been after you appeared on WOD?

Korea admits that we have grown into a better team, and as a Korean, we are very proud of our new attempts.

Is it your first time to visit America?

Yes, and the first place went to was the WOD, so I think it is very special.

Ben Grizz Keeps Charts Hot with “Expensive Taste”

FITCHBURG, MA – If you want to know who’s currently making his bid to become Massachusetts’ next hip-hop star, look no further than Ben Grizz. Growing up around the music, Ben often found himself dabbling into it. He only started buckling down in efforts to grow his career as an artist about a year ago. The growth is impressive because ever since then, he has taken his talents to the next level.

Ben describes the past year as a complete rollercoaster. With developing his sound and perfecting his craft, he’s navigated all of the ups and downs that come with it. “It’s been
an experiment finding out what works and what doesn’t. I like to make club music, but I don’t define myself by a genre. I bring a lot to the table,” said Grizz. Adding to that, the artist tells us how genuine he is not only through his music, but also in everyday life. His sound is what he refers to as old school warmth with a modern day punch.

Last October, Ben released his fan-favorite EP “Expensive Taste”. Since then, his music has circulated radio charts, especially hip-hop focused ones. “I’ve gotten some really positive feedback since the release. The album release party sold out, and it was wild. People are really loving it,” said Ben. The album reflects on a lifestyle that the artist lives out each day. Through this, fans can get a peek into his world, which is always respectable.

What’s coming up next in the world of Ben Grizz? This weekend, he has a show in Fitchburg, MA, which will likely have a packed house. He tells us fans can expect a lot more from him, especially from a visual perspective. If you’re in Austin for SXSW, make sure to check him out- he will be there keeping the stage hot!

Danielle Nichole shines a light  with sultry-melodic vocals on new EP ‘Sentiment’

SICKLERVILLE, NJ – In a world that often feels filled with darkness, Danielle Nichole is on a mission to bring some light. With a voice that has been called “mesmerizing” and “anointed,” this New Jersey native is using her natural gifts as a musician to share the light she feels within her to others all around the globe.

Her first project – an eight-song EP called “Sentiment” – was just released in mid-January and already is getting some positive feedback along the East Coast. Working in collaboration with a team of other musicians, Danielle has created a unique sound and style that producer Denzel Hollis said is “beyond anything else out there.” The EP explores the feelings and emotions that come from various romantic relationships, and features Danielle’s vocals in ways that are simultaneously melodic and sultry. And the soulful qualities of her voice pair perfectly with the smooth R&B, ambience vibe created by Denzel.

“It’s a project about feelings from relationships people go through,” Danielle said. “I didn’t necessarily know how to put words to those feelings. I was fortunate enough to have a team around me who helped me, and together we created a vibe and storyline that captures feelings perfectly. On this EP you’ll hear songs about love, heartbreak, and even that low feeling you get when you’re in certain situations and things don’t go your way.”

In addition to Denzel, Danielle’s team consists of songwriters Amanda Stollings, Naydera Pollard and Kierra Scott. Most of them were studying together at Berklee College of Music with Danielle, and formed a bond while exploring new sounds and styles together. Danielle said she grew up singing and has early memories of overcoming stage freight when her mom would encourage her to sing at church. Often times she was so scared she would cry, and those moments over time gave her a sense of defeat. But she also knew that God had given her such a powerful voice for a reason, and making music for the world to enjoy was her destiny. When the opportunity to study music at one of the world’s most prestigious music schools came about, she not only felt affirmed but also knew that more and more opportunities were about to come her way.

“More than anything, I just want to sing,” she said. I feel I can actually touch people’s hearts and even beyond music, my personality will be a light to people. A lot of people can take my generosity and vibe and energy and use it to up-lift their spirits. I’m not just a singer, I am going to also share my light through my music. That’s what separates me from a lot of other people. My voice is not just for me, it’s for other people. And when people tell me how my music connected with them, it makes my day. To know that my voice made them feel better is what it’s all about.”

R&B Rising Star Tina Mazyck Talks NEW Single "My Line" and MORE!

LISTEN TO THE Q&A PODCAST BELOW

TINA MAZYCK (28:03)

Download the MP3

Born rebel Tina Mazyck shows off vocal range  with new single ‘My Line’

BRONX, NY – When Tina Mazyck was 5 years old, her father bought her a Ronald McDonald tape recorder. At the time she was obsessed with the idea of becoming a cowgirl, and with her new tape recorder she created a song about what it would be like when she grew up to be a cowgirl. That first innocent song was the humble beginning of a journey that would eventually see her becoming one of the fastest-rising young stars in music.

Today, Mazyck (pronounced “Mah-Zeek”) is an artist who’s on a mission to become a name that you include in the conversation with legends such as Rihanna and Beyonce. And her new single, “My Line,” is just the kind of track to bring her the attention she’s seeking. Released Feb. 7, it’s an urban vibe with a flirty hook and some “badass” lyrics that she said will connect with a lot of other women in the world.

“I talk about real stuff – anything I’m feeling I’ll saw in my music,” Mazyck said. “I’m very raw with no filter. At the same time I’m tying that in with a melodic, angelic voice. I bring it all
together and contracts different things going on. I’m also positive. That’s what I want my music to be known for – spreading positivity and having a positive message while also letting people know they should embrace who they are and be real. Be authentic. That’s the key.”

Though she traces her music career back to that moment at age 5 with the tape recorder, she said it wasn’t until age 12 that she actively began looking for ways to perform. Throughout her teenage years she developed her chops by performing at open mic nights and singing in performance groups. She soon became known for her R&B performances, but instead of doing the expected thing, Mazyck decided to do something completely unexpected: study opera.

“I used to play around a lot doing opera because I would hear it on commercials and stuff – usually for perfume,” she said. “But I grew up in an African American home in the Bronx, and opera isn’t something you’d ever hear a kid listening to. But I just started trying to sing it and copy it. At first I didn’t realize I had the range for it, but I did very well at it and I got a vocal coach and studied opera and musical theater for three years. I’m a rebel. I go against the grain. I don’t do things other people are doing. I never have. I’m a leader. What everybody else is doing, I do the opposite. It’s not even a conscious thought. I was just born for creativity.”

Eventually she returned to her R&B and pop roots, but the vocal training she received through her opera studies has given her unique approach to making music. With the release of “My Line,” she said she’s eager for new fans to check out her unique sound and style. A music video for the single should follow sometime in March, with more singles set to come over the next few months.
