COONEY'S THOUGHTS

It's been a great week. 8CN has been upgraded, and our rankings are already climbing rapidly. Look for big interviews with fighters in both boxing and MMA. We also will be covering some news stories outside of the ring from time to time.

Personally, things in my life are terrific. I had a great trip up to New England visiting my family. Now that I'm back in Mississippi, I have dedicated myself to getting in better physical condition. I am on a 6 day per week cardio program. This has paid off tremendously. I've already lost 22 pounds. With some love and encouragement from my two Angels, Lanvy and Bebe, the process of losing weight has been easier.

I had a chance to meet with the President of the National Rifle Association, Wayne LaPierre. I had a lengthy conversation with him and discussed what our current President is doing regarding our 2nd amendment. Wayne is very worried what will happen if Obama is re-elected. I fully support Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. I voted for Obama in 2008, and regret that vote to this day. Our country is in a mess, and the current President isn't doing a thing to improve it. I really enjoyed the primary season because I was able to meet all of the top candidates. I met Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Mitt Romney. It was pretty cool being a part of the process like that. Each candidate gave inspiring and informative speeches. Romney wasn't my favorite of the three, but he's got the nominee, so he's who I am supporting.

Ive known Pete for about 4 years now. He's one of the nicest guys in rock n roll, and is currently shredding his six string with rock legend Bret Michaels. Pete and I get together every Memorial Day weekend in Biloxi, MS. When the band comes through MS, Pete always puts me and Shannon on the guest list, and the party really starts after the show. I have had him on my Podcast a few times now, and look forward to talking to him each time. He's got a new single that's coming out with his solo band "Downtime" called " A million years" and we'll talk about it. We will also talk about his tour with Bret Michaels, and more!

What's up folks? I just spoke with the former undisputed middleweight world champion Kelly Pavlik. He absolutely RIPS Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao. MEETING NRA PRESIDENT WAYNE LAPIERRE

I attended the National Rifle Association banquet held in Jackson, MS this evening and got to meet the NRA President Wayne LaPierre. Wayne took over the top spot after the passing of the great Charlton Heston. I am a big supporter of our 2nd amendment, and if President Obama gets re-elected our right to bear arms may be in jeopardy.

As I had mentioned before, going forward I will be conducting interviews with various personalities outside of the boxing world. I will continue to interview boxers and MMA's, but I plan to reach out beyond the ring and cage as well. Recently, I conducted interviews with actor Mickey Rourke, and NASA Avionics Engineer Jonathan Grinblat. Coming soon, within the next 3 weeks I'll be sitting down with Congressman Gregg Harper (R) of Mississippi. We will discuss this years Presidential election, and how the country will be impacted if Obama is re-elected, and or if Gov Romney is elected. I'll keep ya'll updated once I nail down a date. HOME SWEET HOME - GREAT TRIP TO NY/CONNECTICUT

Had an absolutely wonderful time up in Connecticut and New York. Seeing my family and spending time with friends is what it's all about. I was in The Bronx on Sunday, at Yankee Stadium seeing my team play The Orioles. What a blast! Seeing my Nephew, who's in the US Marines, was great. The whole trip was great. Now I'm back home, and ready to hit it hard in the boxing world. Stay tuned for big interviews from fighters, and from the entertainment world.
