From my very own town of Brandon, Mississippi, 18 year old Skylar Laine just keeps doing her thing on American Idol. Skylar has lit this town on fire and she's taken America by storm as well. The 18 yr old country singer from Brandon MS has captured the hearts of millions across America. I'll be interviewing her sisters at the Skylar viewing party next week in Brandon so stay tuned. GREAT TIME AT THE JERMAIN TAYLOR FIGHT

8CountNews got the red carpet treatment down on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico this past Friday night. Jermain Taylor squared up against Caleb Truax and Erislandy Lara fought Ronald Hearns, at the beautiful Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, MS. 8CN was granted exclusive access to Jermain's dressing room after his fight and spoke with him about the fight.

RIP AMERICAN BANDSTAND LEGEND DICK CLARK

I grew up watching Dick Clark. He brought the New Years in for all of us for decades. His show ''American Bandstand'' launched careers, and brought us music and dancing for decades. Dick was a true American. He died of a massive heart attack. Dick was 82 years old.

HEADING TO BILOXI, MS FOR TAYLOR VS TRUAX FRIDAY

8CN will be heading to the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast this Friday and will be ringside for the Jermain Taylor Vs. Caleb Truax fight. Looking forward to seeing the fellas and some good boxing.

MISSISSIPPI BRAVES OUTFIELDER INJURED

Well I got to see an inside the park home run this afternoon at Trustmark Park, in Pearl, MS. A terrible collision took place in the outfield when the right fielder and the center fielder both laid out for a fly ball and collided in mid air. The players were down for over 15 minutes. One of them had to be carried off of the field on a stretcher.

COUNTRY MUSIC STAR LUKE BRYAN IN PEARL, MS BASS PRO SHOP

You just never know who will walk into the Pearl, MS Bass Pro Shop. Today we had country music star Luke Bryan walk in. Luke purchased a hunting license, but before leaving he took a few minutes to take photos with many of his fans. Several people recoginzed him when he walked in. Luke will be performing live tonight at the Jackson Coliseum.
