HEADING TO CONNECTICUT/NEW YORK JAN 12TH - 18TH

I will be heading up to the New York/Connecticut area on Jan 12th. I do a lot of traveling throughout the country all year, but this time it's all about relaxing and spending time with my family. I'm sure I'll squeeze in some boxing stuff of sorts. I look forward to seeing my soul sister Maureen Shea. I look forward to seeing my brother from another mother, Ed Anderson. I look forward to seeing my friend Julie Lederman, and Mark and John McGinty. It's been a good 2010, and I look forward to an even better 2011.

COONEY'S THOUGHTS - FAVRE, ROY JONES JR, FAKE EMAILS, AND LAMONT PETERSON

Hey fight fans, just wanted to chime in tonight on a few things that's on my mind. Big props to Brett Favre, his playing streak has come to an end. He has decided due to injury not to play tonight, and it's probably the last time we will see him on the football field. Good luck to Brett, he had a brilliant career.

Roy Jones Jr stopped by the Podcast show tonight. Roy's been a great supporter of 8CountNews, and a friend to us. He's a legend, and whatever he decides to do in boxing career is his choice. We unlike other chumps respect him, and will always have his back.

8CN received an interesting FAKE Email that traced back to an IP address that belongs to the Dept of Homeland Security. Hmmmm, I wonder who that was? It tracked back to Northern, Virgina. Man, I would hate if the Dept of Homeland Security found out that someone was using their company computer/IP address for personal use, and a fake Email at that.

Big props to Lamont Peterson for having the will and determination to fight back after being dropped twice by Victor Ortiz.

COONEY'S THOUGHTS - WIKILEAKS NORTH KOREA STALLONE

I don't think there is anyone who I would rather get my hands on right now more than this moron Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder. Are you kidding me? This guy put good Americans in life threatening positions by plastering secret material on the web. He's also put others in danger, and he could care less. Bring that two bit piece of garbage back to America and let's get him before the judge.

North Korea just up and decided to launch over 100 rounds of artillery at South Korea? North Korea is a country led by a complete psychopath AND they have nukes. Great.... that's just wonderful. China just sits around and does nothing about it. It's just a matter of time before all Hell breaks loose over there.

Sylvestor Stallone in the Hall of Fame? Really? He's an actor,no? You know? A guy that PRETENDS to be boxing. Anyone who thinks that Stallone should be in the boxing Hall of Fame is a complete idiot.

THE WORLD JUST LOST A BRAVE WOMAN - RIP ELIZABETH EDWARDS

The passing of Elizabeth Edwards has really touched my heart today. I lost my mother, and my step-mother both from cancer. Elizabeth Edwards fought bravely, and she was a courageous and beautiful woman. She had to deal with a cheating husband, and cancer at the same time. Rest in peace Elizabeth, you will be missed.

Newark – Popular Polish heavyweight Tomasz Adamek returns to the ring Thursday, December 9th to take on the hardnosed New York native Vinnie Maddalone live on www.NESportsTV.com from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Adamek, a former light heavyweight titleholder and cruiserweight world champion, has been steadily rising through the heavyweight ranks and is a likely challenger for WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in 2011. He’s accrued impressive victories over former title challengers Andrew Golota, Chris Arreola and Michael Grant within the span of one year. Adamek also defeated former United States Olympian Jason Estrada in his recent heavyweight run that has earned him world rankings in all four major sanctioning bodies and the #4 spot in the independent Ring Magazine rankings and #5 according to espn.com.
"I would love to fight them. I'm ready to fight anybody. The Klitschko brothers offer their opponents little money. If they want to fight me and offer the right amount of money, I will fight them. HBO is interested in a fight with David Haye.” Adamek said at the press conference to announce the fight.
However, first he must get past the power punching Maddalone.
"I've watched him (Maddalone) a few times. He's a good fighter, but I am very quick. This will help me win. I think Vinny Maddalone is a good boxer, but I am better.”
Maddlone has never been in a boring fight. He’s been in wars with Evander Holyfield, Brian Minto (twice), Dennis Boystov and Jean Marc-Mormeck. He’s unlikely to turn down a fight and is looking forward to fighting Adamek.
"I'm going to take 2 or 3 punches to exchange one, that's me. I'm not going to change overnight. We are working on little things in the gym that will hopefully make a difference on December 9th: be first; head movement; don't let him dictate the fight." Maddalone said at the press conference.
The fight will be available as a PPV on www.NESportsTV.com worldwide (except in the United States and Poland). In the US, the bout will be available on cable TV PPV via Integrated Sports and the fight will be nationally televised in Poland.
