With all due respect to the Brazilian authorities, we knew Arturo Gatti and we do not believe that he took his own life. Members of Arturo’s family, along with his boxing manager Pat Lynch, are conducting their own investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. We believe that once the results of that investigation are revealed, the truth will come to light and justice will be done.

"Pancho" Moncivais Laid to Rest Today

I attended "Pancho's" funeral today in Laurel, MS. There were hundreds of people in attendance, and the funeral procession line was about 2 miles long. It was a beautiful service with the pastor releasing 4 doves at the conclusion. 3 of the doves symbolized the Trinity, and the 4th doved named "Pancho" was for courage and strength.

Pancho's family were surrounded by friends and family, and hundreds of other people that were gathered at the Chapel. I was very touched by the show of respect that the citizens of Laurel showed. The procession line moved from the Chapel to the cemetary, and I was very impressed by the show of respect that the citizens of Laurel showed. The procession line traveled through the streets and I watched cars, 18 wheeler trucks pulled over stopped on the street. I saw law enforcement officials standing at parade rest outside of their police cars. This was a beautiful service, for a beautiful person. Pancho will be missed dearly, God rest his soul.

Viewing for "Pancho" Moncivais will be at the Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, MS.

The viewing (wake) will be on Wednesday from 5PM-9PM

The funeral will be on Thursday at 10 AM

FORMER WORLD CHAMPION VERNON FORREST SHOT AND KILLED IN ATLANTA

Sadly, I have to report that former World Champion, Vernon Forrest is dead. Reports out of Atlanta say that the former world champion was a victim of an attempted car-jacking. The incident took place at 11:00 PM Saturday night while Forrest was putting air into his car tires. A red Monte Carlo approached, and two male subjects attempted to take Vernon's Jaguar. Apparently, Vernon Forrest had a hand gun on him, and chased the subjects. As a result, Forrest was killed...stay tuned for updates.

FRANCISCO "PANCHO" MONCIVAIS HAS DIED

I don't even have the words to describe how sick I feel about this. "Pancho" was my friend, and he just passed away at approximately 9PM Central time tonight. Pancho was one of the nicest, classiest, well mannered guys that you could ever meet. Pancho left this earth and is now with God in heaven. He will be missed. Please keep the Moncivais family in your prayers.

FORMER US JR OLYMPIC NATIONAL CHAMPION FRANCISCO "PANCHO" MONCIVAIS IN CRITICAL CONDITION

Former 2 time national champion, Francisco "Pancho" Moncivais (1-1) was critically injured during his second pro fight in Biloxi, Friday night. Moncivais, captured the under 19 national title, and the US junior olympic national title before turning pro in April, of 2009. This past Friday night was "Pancho's" second professional bout, he faced Bobby O'Bannon (5-2-0) of Mobile, Alabama.

According to sources ringside the fight was a back and forth slugfest with both fighters ending up on the canvas. Moncivais had O'Bannon down three times during the fight, and the referee's at ringside all had him winning the fight before the injury occured. In the 4th round, O'Bannon had Moncivais on the ropes where he threw some bodyshots, and then went up stairs connecting with two shots to the head. A third shot was on the way when referee Freddie Steinwinder stepped in and called a halt to the action. Official time was 1:39 of round 4.

Steinwinder removed the mouthpiece from Moncivais, at which time the fighter said, "That guy can hit hard" immediately after those words, Moncivais lost consciousness. The ringside doctor entered the ring and assessed the situation, and determined that Moncivais had to be transported to the hospital immediately.

Moncivais was transported to the Hancock Medical Center to stabilize his breathing, and has since been transported to the Gulfport Memorial Hospital, in Gulfport, MS.

Mississippi State Athletic Commissioner Jon Lews was with Moncivais today at the hospital and reported to 8CN that the fighter has been diagnosed with having a Subural Hematoma. Stay tuned to 8CountNews for updates.

"Pancho" is a friend of mine. I have known him since 2003 when he captured his first national title. You could not ask for a more polite and engaging young man. Pancho is clinging to life right now, so I ask that all of you please keep him in your prayers.

AMERICAN ICON NEWSMAN WALTER CRONKITE HAS DIED

The most trusted man in America, Walter Cronkite has died at 92. The legendary voice of CBS news reported the man on the moon landing in 1969, he told the world that president Kennedy had been killed. Cronkite gained America's trust and was voted the most trusted man in America. Cronkite was the anchor of CBS from 1962 to 1981. He retired in 81 being replaced by Dan Rather. He was bitter at CBS when he left, he felt that he was forced to retire. I grew up watching Cronkite, and I remember how much my father admired him. Rest in peace Mr Cronkite, rest in peace.

ARTURO GATTI' WIFE DETAINED IN BRAZIL

The wife of former 2 time world champion Arturo Gatti is being detained and questioned by the police in Brazil. The death of Gatti is being ruled as "suspcious" and it appears that the murder weapon was a purse strap that belonged to Amanda Gatti. The strap has blood stains on it, and has been sent to a lab for testing.

ARTURO GATTI FOUND DEAD IN BRAZIL!

Former welterweight world champion Arturo Gatti has been found dead in Brazil. The former champion was in Brazil with his wife, and their one year old son. Gatti's wife, Amanda Gatti woke up and found Arturo face down, with marks on his head and neck. The Brazillian police are calling this a "suspicous" death. Gatti was 37 years old.

I watched the Michael Jackson memorial tribute yesterday, and I must admit that I was moved during certain parts, especially when Paris Jackson spoke at the end. With that said, it's now time for the news networks to get back to reporting the news. You know? Like North Korea and it's launching of more missles off of it's eastern coast. You know? Like the Iranian revolution, and the deaths of 7 US Warriors in Afghanistan, that kind of stuff. The King of Pop has died, and now we need to move forward.

Success breeds hate. That's one of the saying's that I have lived by lately. If you're getting hated on, then you are obviously doing good things, and you are at a level that someone else wants to be at. I have had everything from blogs made about me, fake myspaces made about me, hate emails, you name it.

Recently, yet another myspace was made using my name. My attorney has been made aware of it, and we are in the process of working with the myspace people to track down the owner of it. It's truly sad that grown adults stoop to this level. Success breeds hate, it makes a lot of sense.

Lets have a little fun and do a character test. What does Brad Cooney do? He owns a successful boxing website www.8countnews.com - What does my hater do? Creates fake myspace sites about me lol - What does Brad Cooney do? He heads up a water charity for the beautiful people of Kenya, and raises money that builds clean water drinking wells. What does my hater do? They sit at a keyboard and send fake emails to people lol. What does Brad Cooney do? He works with the inner city youth kids here in Jackson, spends time with the kids at the amateur boxing club. What does my hater do? They make fake myspace sites about me lol... let's see, should I go on? Probably not, I think you get the picture.

The point is, when someone spends their time and energy on you for hateful puroses, they are truly, truly in a sad state of mind. Ho hum, so I keep moving on.
