With the drums banging, and the Brits singing, Hatton gave them even more to cheer about. A very impressive 11th round TKO over Paulie "The Magic Man" Malignaggi for Hatton was just what the doctor ordered for the thousands of faithful UK fans.
Malignaggi basically threw one punch throughout the fight, a left jab. Other than that, he grabbed and held for 11 rounds. Hatton's swarming style proved too much for Malignaggi. Paulie just didn't have enough power to hold off Hatton's constant pressuring style.
In the 10th round Malignaggi's corner (Buddy McGirt) said that he was going to throw in the towel if he didn't see something more from Malignaggi. True to his word, early in the 11th round McGirt waved the towel forcing the referee to call a halt to the action.
Malignaggi was behind badly on all cards prior to the stoppage.
